Tupaia's Famous Drawing

This photo was inspired by a Navigator from the Island of Ra'iatea named Tupaia. Tupaia could point out more than 100 islands, size, position of their reefs and harbours. Captain Cook and Tupaia were really good friends, Captain Cook offered Tupaia a ride on the Endeavor. Tupaia started drawing so that people could see the difference between Polynesians viewing his world, compared to how Europeans viewed it.

Here's one of Tupaia's famous drawings.

The Internet In 60 Seconds

The internet is a social network holding people's private information. People can send messages to each other, especially if they're on the other side on the world due to the power of the internet.

Here is my diagram I made about how the internet works within 60 seconds.

Christian's Diary

Dear diary,

We hear a loud bomb so close to us, so close to the class. I can see my classmates crying, some praying. I flashback to all my greatest family moments as I believe my last breath will be today. I remember all the dead bodies I've seen throughout my life, people suffering as they tell me to run and hide. Another bomb is set. I cry with horror in my eyes, my ears are covered with my dusty hands which are yet to be exploded off from my body.

Argo Cycle

For my reading activity my group and I were assigned to make a small diagram about the Argo Cycle and have a discussion about what Argo Floats are.  An Argo Float is an underwater device that measures the temperature and salinity of the ocean waters.  The Argo Float weighs about 25kg which includes it's instruments and the batteries inside.  They are 1.2m long.  The people that collect the data from the Argo Floats send to the satellite are Scientists, Meteorologist and Oceanographers.

This photo shows the Argo Cycle.  I have added the satellite and the receiving station for information.

Sailing Have A GO - Ellma

On Monday the 10th of May, the seniors of our school got ready to go sailing at Okahu Bay. It was such a pleasure to have our instructors Holly, Robbie, Kim and Collin to teach us how to steer the boat with a rudder and how to control the sail.

I'd like to thank St Johns Rotary and Sailing NZ for giving us the opportunity to experience this. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have had the chance to learn how to sail on mini boats. Though the weather wasn't the best, we managed to enjoy ourselves and had fun even with a few little splashes.

Diary Entry - Yellow Umbrella

Dear Diary,

Today this girl gave me her yellow umbrella since she knew how much it meant to me. As I breathe in the air of the dark attic, I stand there with an exciting look on my face while looking at the smile she had on her face. I slowly walk towards her while listening to the creaks on the floor. I gave her a BIG hug! I was letting her know how much sadness she's taken away from my life by giving me a yellow umbrella.

Diary Entry

This is a diary entry which I have written in response to a short animated movie we're studying for literature.

Dear diary,

The amount of broken plates in front of my teary eyes. My family that was once happy turned into something more scarier, makes me wonder how I should react when they're acting like a horror movie. I breathe in and sniff the smoke coming from the kitchen. I listen quietly as my parents roughly insult each other with no hesitation whatsoever.
